Controversial self-acclaimed evangelist Patricia Asiedu, also known as Agradaa, has stated that if she is unable to go to heaven, she would still be happy because she had hugged President John Dramani Mahama.
She made the remarks while speaking to journalists after the National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving, held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at the forecourt of the State House.
Agradaa joined other members of the clergy, civil society organisations, and citizens to pray for unity and stability.
After the ceremony, the president took time to exchange pleasantries with the clergy.
Agradaa, who was among those who interacted with the president, started jumping in excitement after hugging him and then declared that even if she doesn’t go to heaven, she would still be satisfied.
‘’The National Day of Prayer and Thanksgiving is a good programme. I am excited to be here today because I had the opportunity to hug the president, and even if I don’t go to heaven, I would still be happy,’’ she said in Twi.
The concept of a national prayer day was first proposed by President Mahama during his 2024 election campaign, specifically during an August meeting with religious leaders in Ho.
At that gathering, the president emphasised the need for Ghana to institutionalise a day of collective gratitude and spiritual reflection, drawing inspiration from similar observances in other nations.
The day was set aside to unite Ghanaians of all faiths and express gratitude to God for the nation’s abundant blessings.
