The Member of Parliament for Walewale Constituency, Hon. Kabiru Tiah Mahama, has expressed concern about the potential economic impact of COVID-19.
He cited its devastating effects on the Ghanaian economy and global economies in the past as a reason for his apprehension.
He emphasised the need for vigilance to prevent a recurrence of the situation and commended the Minister for Health’s recent calm approach to handling the situation.
Hon. Mahama specifically highlighted the vulnerability of students on the University of Ghana campus, stressing that their health is crucial for their learning.
He humorously critiqued the idea of “living with COVID-19”, suggesting that if this is indeed the government’s approach, they should reconsider their policies and scrap the COVID-19 Levy.
The MP concluded by expressing his willingness to support the Minister for Health in ensuring calm and preventing panic among Ghanaians, with the hope that the situation will pass.
He reiterated the importance of collaboration to mitigate the impact of COVID-19 and protect the health and well-being of Ghanaians.
