The state honour, presented during a brief ceremony in Accra on Wednesday, July 2, reflects Ghana’s appreciation for India’s long-standing support and its growing role in the West African nation’s development agenda.

Accepting the award, Prime Minister Modi described the recognition as not only a personal honour but also a symbol of responsibility — one he said compels India to further strengthen its partnership with Ghana.

The Indian leader’s visit, marked by high-level discussions and a joint press conference at the Jubilee House, signaled renewed urgency in expanding cooperation between the two countries across critical sectors.

President Mahama used the occasion to outline Ghana’s ambitions for a strengthened bilateral agenda, noting shared priorities in trade, agriculture, clean energy, technology and youth empowerment.

“We agreed on the urgency of deepening our collaboration in areas of shared strategic interest, particularly in agriculture, agribusiness and renewable energy, digital innovation, health and youth empowerment,” President Mahama said.

India has been a key development partner for Ghana, providing concessional financing, technical assistance, and investment in infrastructure projects. Among India’s notable contributions are the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT, the Elmina Fish Processing Plant, the Komenda Sugar Factory, and the Tema-Mpakadan railway project — initiatives that have helped boost Ghana’s industrial and technological capacity.

The visit marks a high point in Ghana–India relations and sets the stage for further engagement at both governmental and private sector levels.Buy vitamins and supplementsGhanaian fashion

As the two leaders concluded their remarks, the message was clear: a stronger, more strategic partnership lies ahead, built on decades of goodwill and a shared commitment to inclusive growth and innovation.
