The Minister of Trade, Industry, and Agribusiness, Hon. Elizabeth Ofosu-Agyare, has outlined her ministry’s efforts to drive Ghana’s economic transformation through various initiatives.
In response to questions from Hon. Lawrence Agyinsam, MP for Hemang Lower Denkyira Constituency, the minister highlighted key policies and programmes aimed at promoting economic growth and development. These include: Business regulatory reforms to streamline regulations,
The “Made in Ghana” policy to boost local production and the “Export Ghana” policy to enhance global trade competitiveness, Support for MSMEs through financing, incubation, and value chain investment, and lastly, development of sector-specific policies and special economic zones to attract investments and promote innovation
The minister also emphasised the ministry’s role in implementing the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Agreement, which aims to promote intra-African trade and economic integration.
These initiatives, she said, are expected to have several benefits, including increased competitiveness of Ghanaian businesses, improved access to finance and markets for MSMEs, enhanced economic growth and job creation, and increased attractiveness of Ghana as a manufacturing hub for trade in Africa.
