New Patriotic Party parliamentary candidate for the Ablekuma North constituency, Madam Akua Afriyie, has reiterated her confidence in emerging victorious in the forthcoming parliamentary election.
The politician stressed that notwithstanding the party’s decision not to participate in the process, she would contest the seat and is adamant that she will emerge victorious.
Madam Afriyie asserted that she was the rightful winner of the 2024 main election, but her victory was unjustly denied; however, with divine support, she is confident of securing the seat.
Speaking on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Madam Afriyie urged constituents to participate in the election in large numbers and not allow intimidation from any quarter.
When asked if her decision to contest was not against the party’s position not to contest and if she was prepared to face any consequences, she stated that “that would be an internal party matter to deal with, and I don’t want to comment on that, but the most important issue now is that I am still in the contest. I am participating in the rerun of the 19 polling stations, and I want to appeal to the constituents to turn up in their numbers and vote massively for me.”
“The truth is that everyone wants Akua Afriyie to win. The constituents want me as their MP, so I can’t boycott the election. I want to state categorically that justice will prevail tomorrow, and God will speak for me. You cannot take the seat I legitimately won, but the EC has decided to rerun the contest in 19 polling stations, and so I will contest and win and will be declared winner,” she added.
