The Member of Parliament for the Suhum constituency, Frank Asiedu Bekoe, popularly known as Protozoa, has shockingly revealed that they had to transport the late Akwatia MP, Ernest Kumi, in car boots before he could gain access to Parliament.

The lawmaker stated that a directive was issued to the security at the gates of Parliament not to allow him to enter the premises while his court case was pending.

Due to this, Mr Ernest Kumi had to be placed inside car boots before he could gain access to Parliament and participate in parliamentary proceedings.

He disclosed this while speaking in an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM.

Protozoa was recounting his fond memories of the late Ernest Kumi, whom he described as a dedicated parliamentarian and a committed member of the “elephant family” (referring to the NPP).

He noted that Ernest Kumi’s death was shocking and deeply painful, especially considering the trauma he went through due to the court cases filed against him.

“The death of Ernest Kumi came to me as a shock. Today is exactly a week since Ernest Kumi died. He was a good man, a dedicated MP, and a committed member of the NPP. He won the seat with over 2,000 votes in the parliamentary election, and yet, the NDC wanted to snatch the seat from him at all costs.

He was being frustrated to the point that it got to a point where we had to transport him to Parliament in car boots. Directives were issued for him not to be allowed in Parliament and to be arrested. So, we had to bring him to Parliament in car boots. He also slept in his office on some occasions due to what was happening,” he disclosed.
