We wanted to win the 2024 elections but the will of man is not the will of God – Kodua

July 19, 2025
KODUAAA

General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Frimpong Kodua, has stated that the party went into the 2024 general elections with the hope of securing victory. However, he acknowledged that because the will of man is not the same as God’s will, they lost.

Delivering his address on the state of the party at the party’s national delegates conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, the private legal practitioner stated that after the defeat, the leadership established a committee to probe why they lost.

He said the committee traveled across the country to engage with party members, and from the recommendations, it emerged that there were some provisions in the constitution that ought to be amended.

In view of that, he has urged the members of the party to rally behind the party and accept the decisions that will come out of the delegates conference.

Frimpong Kodua, the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ghana, has stressed the importance of prioritizing the party’s collective interest over individual ambitions, especially at their ongoing conference.

He highlighted that the decision to hold the presidential primary on January 31, 2026, was approved for good reason, implying it was a well-considered step in the party’s strategy.

This statement comes amidst the NPP’s efforts to restructure and reflect internally following their defeat in the 2024 general elections, with a focus on addressing internal shortcomings and preparing for future electoral success.
