Armstrong Esaah, official spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign, has asserted that if the New Patriotic Party (NPP) were human, it would be in the intensive care unit.
He noted that the party’s leadership is repeating past mistakes that led to their previous defeat.
If these issues are not addressed promptly, he warned, the party faces another humiliating defeat in the 2028 general elections.
Evaluating the party’s national delegates conference on Saturday, July 19, 2025, Esaah stated that, in his experience, this was the first time national officers had organised an event seemingly for the benefit of only one person, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
He emphasised that the NPP belongs to its members, and national officers must be guided by this fact, being mindful of their decisions, as they will be held accountable for their stewardship.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Esaah criticised the current leadership for consistently giving the former vice president an advantage over other aspiring presidential candidates.
“We know the state of our party, and sometimes when I look at it, I weep. We are at a very critical moment. If the NPP were a patient being rushed to Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital or Komfo Anokye Hospital, I am telling you today that we would rush the NPP straight to the intensive care unit for a specialist to work on it.
We should not joke with our current state at all. Imagine the Ghana map in your mind, and you will weep because the NPP does not have a single parliamentary representation in about four regions. This is the current state of the NPP. We have only one seat in some other regions, and the NPP must put in all the work to deal with these challenges,” he added.
