Celebrated Ghanaian women’s football coach Yusif Basigi, currently at the helm of Tanzanian side Simba Queens, has lauded the quality of training pitches in Tanzania, claiming they are comparable to Ghana’s Accra Sports Stadium.
In an exclusive interview on Rainbow Sports, Basigi stated that Tanzania’s investment in sports infrastructure sets them apart from Ghana.
When asked to compare the sports infrastructure of the two countries, he responded:
“In terms of infrastructure, they have no problems at all, especially in Dar es Salaam. They have very good pitches. Even our training pitch, I can compare it with the Accra Sports Stadium. It is a grass pitch—very soft and of high standard.
The situation is the same across different areas in the country, and so I can confidently say that they have better sports infrastructure,” he declared.
He also revealed that sponsorship for women’s football was far better than in Tanzania.
He indicated that various male clubs in the country sponsored the female clubs.
Coach Basigi added that the female clubs benefit from insurance and other packages, which motivate them to excel.
