According to him, Ghana’s economy expanded by a remarkable 5.3% in the first quarter of 2025.

He said the achievement represents a substantial increase from the 4.9% growth recorded in the same period of 2024 and represents the highest first-quarter growth the nation has seen since 2020.

The agricultural sector played a crucial role in this growth, demonstrating a remarkable 6.6% increase, he stated.

He said the figure is approximately three times the growth observed in the first quarter of 2024 for the sector.

Agriculture’s strong performance contributed significantly to the overall first-quarter growth, accounting for 26.4% of the total. Within the agricultural sector, the fishing sub-sector exhibited the most substantial growth, expanding by 16.4%, he added.

Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson stressed that this positive economic trajectory is a result of “prudent fiscal management, sound monetary policy, effective structural reforms, and strategic investments.”

He stated that these measures are collectively “laying a solid foundation for sustainable growth and shared prosperity,” aligning with the national vision of “Resetting the Economy for the Ghana We Want.”
