The Ghana Health Service has announced the country’s first death from Mpox, according to an update issued on July 22, 2025.
The report indicates 23 new confirmed cases, bringing the total number of Mpox infections to 257 since the outbreak started.
“Unfortunately, 1 new death has been reported,” the GHS noted in its update.
The GHS has therefore reiterated the need for the public to:
✅ Avoid close contact with infected individuals
✅ Wash hands regularly
✅ Report any symptoms early to the nearest health facility
GHS assured the public that it was monitoring the situation.
According to Service, efforts are ongoing to contain the spread and provide necessary care for affected persons.
Mpox is a viral disease that presents with symptoms such as fever, rashes, swollen lymph nodes, and muscle aches.
