The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially endorsed Solomon Kwame Asumadu, Chief Executive Officer of Owuo Mining Company, as its parliamentary candidate for the upcoming Akwatia by-election.
The party indicated that the decision to endorse the business owner was reached after extensive stakeholder consultations.
According to the party, the proposal to hold primaries was overwhelmingly rejected in favour of a consensus approach.
The party officially held a press conference, which was addressed by Eastern Regional NPP Chairman Jeff Konadu Addo on July 28, 2025, to outdoor the candidate.
“We commissioned research. People went into the constituency and gathered all the names of individuals who had expressed interest. After assessing the report on who the most suitable candidate could be, the party found that Kwame Asumadu Solomon had emerged as the clear choice,” he said.
“Today marks the official announcement of Kwame Asumadu as the NPP’s candidate for the Akwatia by-election,” Konadu added.
