The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Sam Nartey George, has disclosed that a total of 859 Ghanaians have successfully completed training under the pilot phase of the government’s 1 Million Coders Programme.
He explained that the initiative, which seeks to equip Ghanaians with coding and digital skills, is gaining strong momentum.
He stated that the trained beneficiaries were elected from Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Bolgatanga.
Mr. Nartey George disclosed this at the Government Accountability Series on Friday, August 1, 2025.
“The pilot phase, which was rolled out in Accra, Kumasi, Sunyani, and Bolgatanga, has successfully trained 859 participants, of whom 52% are female,” the minister said.
“We started the 1 Million Coders Programme. It received overwhelming interest, with over 90,000 applications submitted within the first 4 hours,” he added.
The next phase of the project, he noted, is on track to train an additional 50,000 learners by the end of 2025.
