The Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council has announced a 20% increase in transport fares.
The increase, according to the Council, will take effect from Friday, August 8, 2025.
A statement issued by the council explained that the increase is driven by the persistently high costs of spare parts, goods, and services, along with rising operational expenses following the introduction of the D-Levy and the growing burden of vehicle maintenance caused by poor road conditions across the country.
It has therefore appealed to transport operators, passengers, and the general public to support and comply with the new fare structure to ensure its smooth rollout.
