The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Hon. Samuel Nartey George (MP), has sworn in the newly constituted Governing Board of the Ghana Post Company Limited, urging them to spearhead the transformation of the national postal service into a critical player in Ghana’s digital economy.

‎In his remarks, Hon. Nartey George emphasised that the appointment of the new board is part of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama’s broader vision to reset key public sector institutions to drive inclusive national development.

He challenged the board to reposition Ghana Post as an essential pillar of the country’s 24-hour economy and digital transformation agenda.

‎For most young Ghanaians today, the concept of a post office is alien. That should not be the case. In countries like the UK and US, the postal service is still integral to national life. We must bridge that postal gap,” the minister stated.

The Minister further disclosed ongoing legislative efforts to support the transformation of the postal sector, including the upcoming rebranding of the regulator from the Postal and Courier Services Regulatory Commission to the Postal, Courier and Logistics Services Regulatory Commission.

‎Highlighting key priorities for the board, Hon. George tasked members to:

‎

• Conduct a full inventory and legal audit of all Ghana Post landed properties and joint ventures.

‎

• Investigate and address alleged undervaluation and mismanagement of assets.

‎

• Forge strategic partnerships that place Ghana Post at the centre of biometric passport delivery, university admissions, and security services recruitment.

‎

• Expand synergy between Ghana Post and the Ministry’s rural telephony infrastructure to promote nationwide service accessibility.

‎

The newly appointed Board is chaired by Ms Petra Aba Asamoah. Other members include:

‎

1. Mr Alexander Yaw Arphul, Chief Director – Member

‎

2. Ms Rita Sraha, Ag. Managing Director for Ghana Post Ltd – Member

‎

3. Mr Jerry John Kofi Aseidu – Member

‎

4. Dr Samuel Ayeh – Member

‎

5. Mr Edward Perry Nelson – Member

‎

6. Ms Susanna Asaabea Nyampong – Member

The Chairperson, Ms Petra Aba Asamoah, expressed appreciation for the appointment and pledged the Board’s commitment to “clean house” and support management to realise the Minister’s vision of a revitalised Ghana Post.
