The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has approved a statutory amendment extending the presidential term limit from two to three terms, effective immediately.
This decision was made during the 31st Ordinary Congress in Prampram.
The amendment aligns with FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) statutes, allowing a GFA president to serve three four-year terms, totaling 12 years.
According to Article 31(2) of the GFA Statutes (2019), the annual Congress reviews progress, presents financial and activity reports, and sets strategic directions for Ghanaian football.
The 2025 Congress gathered 124 member body delegates to discuss key governance issues.
The GFA justified the amendment, stating it would promote leadership stability and continuity, facilitating long-term development strategy implementation.
