The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has started a nationwide crackdown to ensure all licensed gold buyers are using official GoldBod receipts.
A statement issued by the board explained that the move is to increase transparency and integrity in the country’s gold trade.
Starting today, Monday, August 18, 2025, GoldBod’s task force and field inspectors will be deployed across the nation to ensure compliance.
All licensed buyers, including aggregators and Tier 1 and 2 buyers, are now required to use these receipts for every transaction.
According to a press statement from GoldBod, failing to do so is a “serious offense” that could lead to severe penalties, including the suspension or even revocation of their license.
GoldBod’s Media Relations Officer, Prince Kwame Minkah, stated that the receipts are a “compulsory requirement… and a critical condition for the validity of all transactions.” He also urged licensed small-scale miners and gold traders to “insist on the issuance of GoldBod receipts for every purchase transaction.”
The statement added, “GoldBod deeply appreciates the cooperation of all licensed buyers in upholding transparency and integrity in Ghana’s gold trade so far. Together, we can strengthen the sector for the benefit of all stakeholders.”
