The National Anti-Illegal Mining Operations Secretariat (NAIMOS) has apprehended four military personnel suspected of conducting unauthorized raids at Simpa Junction in the Tarkwa Nsuaem District of the Western Region.
The officers were arrested during a tactical operation on Monday, August 18, 2025.
Operatives from NAIMOS task force seized the weapons and equipment of the errant soldiers who had been embarking on illegal raids within the region.
The four suspects are believed to be members of outlawed groups conducting unauthorized anti-illegal mining operations in the region under the guise of National Security.
The four military men have been handed over to the 2nd Infantry Battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces at Apremdo for necessary investigations and disciplinary action.
The arrest is expected to bring relief to legitimate mining companies and individuals engaged in lawful businesses in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.
Meanwhile, NAIMOS is continuing aggressive operations with other state security agencies to confront the galamsey menace in the country.
