Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has today, Thursday, August 28, 2025, filed his nomination to contest the January 31, 2026, New Patriotic Party’s presidential primary.
He was joined by his wife, Mrs. Samira Bawumia, campaign team members, and supporters of the party, some of whom his supporters claim are 90 percent of the delegates.
According to him, he is the most prepared candidate with the integrity to “reosnwt” the NPP in the 2028 general elections, hence he appealed to the delegates to vote massively for him.
Addressing supporters after filing his nomination at the party’s headquarters, he said: “The NPP and Ghana are demanding a leader who embodies deep intellect, humility, respect for all persons, unity, courage, foresight, and resilience. As the NPP seeks a leader who represents the character of this party’s tradition and the values of our forebears, I, Mahamudu Bawumia, offer myself to lead the party into the 2028 elections”.
He added that the upcoming primary was not just about electing a flagbearer but about preserving the very soul of the party.
He stated that the choice delegates make on January 31 will determine whether the NPP stays true to its founding values or becomes a party that deepens divisions between the rich and poor.
