Mr. Kingsley Adumattah Agyapong, widely known as Wofa K and the current Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) UK Chapter, has indicated he is considering not seeking reelection.
Mr. Agyapong shared this during an interview with Sir Richie on “As it is In Ghana,” a show on Rainbow Radio 92.4FM in the UK.
His statement came in response to claims that some individuals were working behind the scenes to have him removed from his position.
He stated unequivocally that no one could remove him from his chairmanship or manipulate the outcome of an election against him. Wofa K clarified that his potential decision to withdraw from the race is his own, and not a result of any threats or manipulation.
He believes his leadership has been marked by dedication and commitment to the party.
“I am stating without any doubt that nobody in the party can stop me from contesting the elections. Genuinely, nobody can stop me from contesting,” he said.
“I am the one considering not to seek reelection, and not because there is an attempt to prevent me from contesting. I am being honest with you today. There are several people who appreciate and love me for my service to the party. They don’t love me because I am handsome, but because of my service, integrity, credibility, dedication to the party, my patience, and humanity. If elections are held today, I would win massively, and so the whole point is that I have served NPP well, and nobody can dispute that fact.”
Wofa K’s primary concern now is for the party to remain united and address its challenges so that, regardless of who wins the internal polls, they can secure victory in the 2028 general elections.
He offered advice to the candidates who have filed to contest, urging them to remain focused on their campaigns and messages and to refrain from engaging in insults and attacks. He noted that the five aspiring flagbearers all have solid records in their private and political lives.
“We are talking about people who have the requisite knowledge, experience, and skills in life who want to be elected as a candidate to represent the party and subsequently elected president to manage the affairs of the country,” he concluded.
