Dr Bawumia’s candidacy will be a disaster for the NPP – Save NPP Now

September 29, 2025
korang

A member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and founder of Save NPP Now, Kwesi Korang, has opined that former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is so politically compromised that his defeat in the 2028 general elections is a certainty.

Mr. Korang stated that the former vice president is not the ideal candidate to lead the NPP in 2028.

”Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is not our ideal candidate for victory in 2028. He is aware that we must win the 2028 general elections, and as someone who claims to love the party, he should not contest and instead allow us to select someone who will secure the victory,” he said.

In an interview with Kwabena Agyapong on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM’s “Frontline,” Kwesi Korang asserted that the NPP is at a critical juncture and that nominating Dr. Bawumia as their candidate would be disastrous.

When confronted with the argument that most winning NPP candidates have contested more than once, and that Dr. Bawumia should be given a similar opportunity, he responded:

“That argument is baseless and holds no value. Those making such arguments should note that the NPP does not belong to any single individual. They should also reflect on the comments made by Dr. Bawumia prior to the 2024 general elections.”

He stressed that if the NPP truly wants to secure victory in 2028, delegates must avoid being blinded by loyalty to an individual who lacks the ability to secure them victory. He urged them to allow their loyalty to the NPP to guide them in electing a more credible candidate.
