At a media briefing, General Secretary of the Council, Rev. Dr. Cyril Fayose, explained that the purpose of the Ecumenical Convention is to pursue Christian unity by bringing together God’s people from all denominations to serve
His purpose.

He stated that this convention is a significant step in promoting unity at the grassroots level, especially through the Local Council of Churches (LCCs).

Dr. Fayose noted that the LCCs have a key role to play since they were established to extend ecumenical collaboration beyond the member churches to all Christian congregations within a locality.

The objectives of the CCG Ecumenical Convention are to foster unity and collaboration among Christian denominations in Ghana and the diaspora, empower LCC leadership to serve as agents of unity, peace, and harmony within their communities, strengthen the capacity of Christian leaders to pool resources for effective ministry, harness technology and innovation to build a vibrant and impactful Church, create a unified voice on community and national issues affecting effective governance, and recognize and award LCCs, churches, and individuals who have excelled in promoting Christian unity, peace, and reconciliation.

He said, “The central theme, ‘Uniting the Body of Christ for Greater Impact,’ will be explored through insightful seminars and workshops, including: Historical Trends of Ecumenism: Past, present, and future, Leveraging Spiritual Gifts: For community transformation, Resource Mobilization: For impactful Christian ministry, Financial Management & Entrepreneurship: A boost within the LCCs, and Nation-Building and Civic Responsibility: The role of the Church”.

Special features of the convention will include an Awards Ceremony: Each year, the convention will honor individuals, churches, and LCCs that have demonstrated exceptional dedication to Christian unity and mission. A Health and Wellness Segment: A daily 30-minute session will offer tips on maintaining physical, emotional, and mental health, recognizing that healthy people are wealthy people. The Launch of the CCG Financial Literacy & Entrepreneurship Programme (FILEP): This initiative, supported by key stakeholders, aims to equip participants with skills in financial management and entrepreneurship. Time of Prayer: The convention will include moments of fervent prayer for Ghana.

He called for sponsorship from corporate Ghana, philanthropists, Christian business leaders, individuals, and organizations.

Dr. Fayose called on them to either support in cash or kind, as corporate bodies would be granted the opportunity to make presentations or showcase their products and services during the convention.

A planning committee chaired by Koku Anyidoho, founder of the MILLS Institute, was inaugurated to oversee the planning of the convention.

The other members of the committee are Dr. Joyce Steiner, Director of Programmes and Advocacy, CCG, Miss Salome Kadi Tetteh, Secretary to the Committee, Rev. Jehoida Godwin Amuzu, Coordinator, Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, CCG, leadership expert and cross-cultural communicator; Rev. Christian Kwaku Tsikata, Mr. Stephen Osofo Amoateng, and Rev. Dr. Mark Quaye.

In his acceptance speech, Mr. Anyidoho assured the CCG that he and the members of the committee will deliver on the mandate given them and ensure that the convention achieves its objectives. He noted that it was an honor to serve alongside these distinguished personalities to ensure that the maiden edition of the convention makes an impact.
