Solomon Owusu, a communication team member of the Movement for Change, stated that the decision to transition the movement into a political party is driven by the need to establish a new political force capable of ending the corruption, poor governance, and incompetence exhibited by the two major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
He asserted that the party’s upcoming launch addresses a long-standing desire among Ghanaians and will subsequently offer renewed hope and better national leadership.
Mr. Owusu disclosed that the launch is scheduled for October 15, 2025, with the movement’s founder, Alan Kyerematen, and other important dignitaries expected to be in attendance. The ceremony will take place at the Coconut Grove Hotel in Accra and is expected to bring together various political leaders from across the country.
During an interview on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he described the new entity as a broad-based centrist national party dedicated to achieving a united Ghana and liberating the energies of all Ghanaians for comprehensive economic transformation.
Emphasizing the party’s core purpose, he stated: “Corruption, illegal mining, incompetence, misappropriation of state funds, and outright theft are the evils perpetuated by the two political parties, whose sole interest has been to exploit the country. This new political party is the force that people of all ages have awaited, and we are proudly inaugurating it tomorrow. It is the new force that will end corruption, eradicate poverty, and provide genuine hope.”
He added that the movement is transforming into a political party and is already attracting members with previous affiliations to the NDC, NPP, and other parties, a consolidation he believes will enable them to become the largest political party in Ghana.
The Movement for Change is currently led by former Minister of Trade and Industry, Alan Kyerematen. The Movement’s core agenda is driven by its “Great Transformational Plan” (GTP), which aims to fundamentally reshape Ghana’s political and economic landscape.
