A delegation from the Legal Green Association (LGA) of Ghana, a group of professional law students, has paid a courtesy call on the Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, to express their appreciation for his commitment to the development of the city, particularly in youth empowerment initiatives.
The delegation led by Festus Matey included Evans Mawunyo Tsikata, Head of Politics and Elections, Ebenezer Sefa-Kissi, Deputy General Secretary, and Don Emmanuel Agbanyo, a member.
Speaking during the interaction, the leader of the delegation commended the Mayor’s “unwavering dedication and hands-on leadership style” that continues to inspire young people across the city noting that the Mayor’s empowerment programmes and support for youth-led initiatives had directly benefited many of their members.
He described the meeting as an opportunity to personally thank the Mayor for his visionary leadership and inclusive approach towards building a “Smart, Safer, Vibrant, and Resilient Accra.”
“We are ready to offer our services and expertise to the Mayor’s office in any capacity he deems fit,” he said, adding that they were committed to partnering with the Assembly to realise the Mayor’s vision of transforming Accra.
He stressed that when the Mayor succeeds, “the entire city of Accra succeeds.” and pledged their full support to the Assembly’s developmental agenda.
The Mayor of Accra, Hon. Michael Kpakpo Allotey, who warmly welcomed the delegation, expressed gratitude for their gesture and commended them for their civic-mindedness.
He said such engagements reaffirm the growing collaboration between the Assembly and civic organisations working to improve the city’s social, environmental, and legal landscape.
He assured the delegation of the government’s commitment to supporting youth-focused and community-driven projects that align with Accra’s transformation agenda.
“As a city and government we recognise the vital role young professionals play in nation-building, and we will not stop creating avenues for partnerships that drive innovation, sustainability, and inclusion,” he stated.
The Mayor emphasised that his administration’s focus on youth empowerment, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship forms part of the broader “Resetting Accra” agenda, aimed at restoring discipline, promoting green growth, and enhancing public trust in city governance.
He pointed out that partnerships such as the one proposed by the LGA were key to sustaining the progress being made across various sectors of the metropolis.
“Our collective effort is what will make Accra a model city, one that works for everyone,” he added.
The group later presented a portrait as a token of appreciation to the Mayor in recognition of his efforts.
