The Ministry of Education congratulated the about 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are reporting to their respective schools across the country for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Per the calendar, the students have been asked to report to school from Saturday, October 18, to Monday, October 20, 2025.
A statement issued and signed by the Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, admonished the students to remain dedicated and disciplined as they begin their secondary education.
The statement described the reopening as “a significant milestone in the academic journey of our young learners”.
“The Ministry warmly welcomes all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and encourages them to approach this next phase of their learning with a sense of responsibility and commitment,” the statement added.
It also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process.
According to the Ministry, placement into schools and residential arrangements for the 2025/2026 academic year have officially closed, allowing a smooth start to academic activities across the country.
“This marks a significant milestone in their academic journey and a new chapter in their educational pursuit. The Ministry warmly welcomes all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and urges them to approach this next phase of their learning with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.
“The Ministry also commends parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process and wishes to announce that placement into schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year has officially closed.
“Accordingly, parents and guardians are encouraged to proceed to their assigned schools to complete enrollment formalities and ensure that their wards settle in smoothly for the commencement of academic work.

Meanwhile, the Ministry has assured the public that “every effort is being made to provide equitable and inclusive education for all Ghanaian children.”

“We once again welcome our young learners to the Senior High School family and wish them the very best in their academic and personal development,” the statement concluded.
