The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has noted that it would be a strategic mistake to sack Black Stars coach Otto Addo.
He labelled such suggestions as misplaced and ill-timed.
The Minister posited that Otto Addo remains the right person to lead and prepare Ghana’s national football team for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
He made the remarks on the floor of Parliament on Friday, October 24, 2025.
Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu added that the national teams have limited time to regroup and train before major tournaments, hence sacking the coach will affect the stability of the team.
“There have been calls for the dismissal of the coach who guided us on this qualification path. I believe these calls are unfortunate and misplaced because the man who led us to qualification is best placed to prepare the team for the competition itself,” he said.
“It would be a tragic mistake to dismiss the coach and hire a new person who would have very little time to prepare the team,” Kwakye Ofosu added.
