President John Dramani Mahama has provided the assurance that Ghana remains committed to strengthening its partnership with Germany.

He stated that Ghana stands ready to collaborate with Germany on economic, technological, and regional cooperation opportunities.

He said this during a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Accra.
Speaking on Monday, November 3, 2025, at the Jubilee House, President Mahama asserted that Ghana is making “tangible progress” on initiatives to attract German private sector investments.

This he stated would be done within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), headquartered in Accra.

“The African Continental Free Trade Area offers some parallel opportunities for German and other businesses to enter a market of over 1.3 billion people across the continent. Ghana is positioned as the strategic gateway partner,” President Mahama stated.

President Mahama said the two countries will explore areas such as renewable energy, green industrialisation, digital transformation, and skills development.

The two leaders further disclosed cooperation on technical and vocational education, labor mobility, and regional peace efforts.
The visit aims to strengthen a partnership based on equality, mutual respect, and shared benefits.

President Mahama raised concern over unilateral protectionism, threats to the rules-based international order, and Africa’s lack of permanent representation on the UN Security Council.

“Africa, with 54 countries and over 1.4 billion people, remains the only inhabited continent without a permanent seat on the world’s most influential decision-making body. This historical injustice must be corrected,” he stated.

President Mahama praised Germany’s support for UN Security Council reform and expressed concern over global challenges.
The German President is on a three-day visit to Ghana.

His visit officially began on November 2, and will see visits to Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park, and engagements with young IT specialists.

President Mahama described the visit as both “substantive and deeply symbolic,” highlighting shared aspirations for a partnership based on equality, mutual respect, and shared benefits.

On the final day of his visit, November 4, 2025, German President Steinmeier will be in Kumasi to:
Attend a sod-cutting ceremony at Kumasi Technical Institute.
Interact with students at KNUST.
Tour the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research.
Pay a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
