Yahaya Hassan, the Convenor of a group known as The New Ghana Social Justice Forum, has publicly denounced former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accusing him of neglecting a woman allegedly injured by his convoy in 2021.
Leading a protest by the forum, Hassan stated that the former Vice President has failed to take responsibility for the harm reportedly inflicted upon the young woman, Miriam Umar, by his official convoy.
He lamented that Ms. Umar is currently bedridden and facing severe financial hardship, making her unable to support herself.
Yahaya Hassan asserted that the former Vice President’s alleged lack of character and compassion regarding this incident disqualifies him from seeking the presidency, suggesting he cannot credibly claim to uphold Islamic values while neglecting the victim.
He informed journalists at the protest that repeated petitions to the former Vice President’s office seeking a response have been unanswered.
Holding a Qur’an, Hassan proceeded to invoke curses upon Dr. Bawumia, warning that the former Vice President will be haunted and afflicted unless he comes to the aid of the victim.
“Since 2021, Dr. Bawumia has refused to respond to our petitions. We sent several letters to him, but he did not respond to any of them. Why? I am Mallam Yahaya, and I use this Qur’an in invoking curses against Bawumia. Pain, anguish, and all bad things will follow him wherever he goes. He will equally experience the pain the young lady has gone through. Any political ambition he desires for will not work. He will not succeed at what he is searching for. He will be chased by defeats in whatever contest he goes into.”
He further detailed the victim’s plight: “What happened was painful and unfortunate. A very young, innocent girl who was asked by her mother to send a bowl of light soup to her sick grandparent was knocked down by the convoy of Dr. Bawumia, and he has refused to come to her aid. It shall not be well with Dr. Bawumia; I tell you, until he does what is right, only negative things will follow him.”
”As a group, we will mount pressure on him until he does what is right. This innocent girl must not lose her life.
