The Beverage Consumers and Bar Owners Association of Ghana, popularly known as the Drunkards Association of Ghana, has disclosed that its members have consumed over 1.2 million gallons of alcohol.
Mr. Moses Onyah, aka Dry Bone, President of the Drunkards Association, made this statement on Nyankonton Mu Nsem on Rainbow Radio 87.5Fm.
During the interview, he stated that the Association estimated 16.7 million members comprise prominent individuals who associate with them.
These individuals, he stated, include journalists, civil servants, lawyers, business operators, among others.
He was responding to a statement issued by the Association regarding a one-week break from alcohol consumption to honor the memory of recently deceased statesmen, prominent musicians, pastors, and other notable personalities.
He said the break is for them to introspect and undergo medical screenings to ensure their well-being.
The one-week hiatus from alcohol consumption, effective November 10 to 17, 2025. Recent deaths of prominent personalities have reportedly led to increased alcohol consumption among members, prompting the Association to impose a temporary halt to drinking activities, encouraging self-care and reflection.
Members are also urged to engage their respective religious leaders to pray for the nation, the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and the Association’s leaders.
