Former Vice President and presidential aspirant, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, asserts his capability to be elected President, claiming he possesses the requisite track record to transform Ghana in line with global examples.
He also promised to elevate living conditions in Ghana to a level comparable to those abroad, encapsulating this vision as bringing “Abrokyire” to Ghana if elected President.
Addressing party supporters on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Dr. Bawumia highlighted specific achievements he attributed to his efforts while in office.
He recalled that prior to their assumption of power, the Ghana Card system had not been implemented.
He stated that he was directed by former President Akufo-Addo to collaborate with the National Identification Authority (NIA) to ensure the mass issuance of the card.
“We issued the Ghana Card, and today Ghana is one of the few countries in the world with this type of digital national ID,” he said.
Furthermore, he noted the expansion of the mobile money sector under his oversight, which resulted in the creation of numerous jobs. He pointed out that previously, mobile money transfers were limited to specific networks and lacked integration with bank accounts.
“I said it was possible for us to do it in Ghana, and we have done it,” he stated.
He elaborated that the implementation of the interoperability system has transformed mobile money accounts into functional financial tools, enabling users to perform various transactions, including renewing health insurance, paying utility bills, and receiving international transfers directly into their mobile wallets.
“When we came, the MoMo agents were 107,000. Now they are 900,000. We have created 800,000 jobs for MoMo agents,” he said.
Concluding his address, he positioned these achievements as evidence of his potential for greater impact.
“You have seen what I can do as Vice President without the power. If you make me president with the power, I will bring ‘Abrokyire’ to Ghana here,” he declared.
