Parliament has approved a tax waiver of $10.4 million for Tata Consultancy Services Limited, paving the way for the implementation of the Integrated Tax Administration System project in Ghana.
The agreement, originally signed by the previous NPP government but not ratified by Parliament, forms part of a broader IMF-backed initiative.
According to the agreement, Tata Consultancy Services, alongside its Ghana-based Indian partners, IPMC, will assume responsibility for the country’s domestic tax mobilisation in 2026.
The government has therefore exempted Tata Consultancy Services from a 20% withholding tax and Value Added Tax on its income, providing financial relief to the company while facilitating the smooth rollout of ITAS.
According to Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the renegotiated deal has saved the country $9 million.
