Highlife music veteran Kaakyire Kwame Appiah has revealed that he would have pursued a career as a medical doctor had he continued his higher education.
Speaking in an interview on the Midmorning Drive on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, the musician stated that he was an exceptionally brilliant student, confirming he completed Form 4 with distinction.
Kaakyire Kwame Appiah shared that his mother was among those who strongly encouraged him to follow the path of medicine.
Furthermore, he mused that with higher education, he might have also had the opportunity to ascend to the highest political office in the country, the Presidency.
He emphasized the value of higher education, noting that “Today, a lot of those who have pursued higher education are the ones who are ruling us.”
He advised that anyone who receives the opportunity to pursue higher learning should seize it.
The musician, who is now also a traditional ruler, was, however, quick to affirm that he is immensely proud of his achievements in the music industry.
”I completed Form 4 and did so with distinction. My mother encouraged me to continue my education and become a medical doctor. I could have also contested for the highest office of the land,” he explained. “However, I am proud of what I have achieved through music. I came into the limelight in 1992. I started through the band until 1992, when I became a solo artiste. I have not regretted pursuing music because it has made me who I am today.”
