President John Dramani Mahama has approved the re-engagement of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, for an additional two (2) years.
According to the statement, the extension comes as the IGP is set to attain the statutory retirement age in December 2025.
The decision was communicated in a letter dated November 25, 2025, and signed by the Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama.
It confirmed that Mr Yohuno will continue in his role effective December 28, 2025.
The approval, according to the letter, followed a recommendation from the Police Council and was in accordance with the relevant provisions governing the administration of the Ghana Police Service.
The reengagement was approved by a “firm conviction that your continued leadership is essential to sustaining ongoing reforms, strengthening operational effectiveness, and ensuring stability within the Ghana Police Service at this critical period.”
