Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned that Russia is “ready” for war if Europe pursues one, accusing European leaders of attempting to derail a potential deal to end the conflict in Ukraine.
His remarks come ahead of a meeting with United States envoys in Moscow to discuss a proposed peace plan aimed at ending the ongoing war.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has indicated that he expects updates from US negotiators following their discussions, and he expressed willingness to meet with US counterpart Donald Trump again.
On the ground, the Russian Defence Ministry has released footage claiming its forces have captured the key eastern Ukrainian city of Pokrovsk. However, the Ukrainian army maintains that it still controls the northern part of the city, with intense fighting ongoing.
