Heart of Lions head coach Bashir Hayford has expressed disappointment with his players following their 2-1 defeat to Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League over the weekend.
The coach observed that his players have become complacent, particularly the experienced or senior players.
He noted that their recent successes have led to a lack of effort in securing additional wins.
According to him, they had opportunities to win five recent matches and take over the top spot on the league table, but the players failed to take the necessary steps to secure these wins.
Speaking in his post-match interview, Bashir Hayford said “I think because of the winning we are winning my top players, they call themselves senior players. I think they are joking. I should put them on their feet. The complacency is too much, and that’s why we lost. Honestly, my so-called experienced players have let me down.”
He added, “I’m very disappointed. We have had the opportunity to jump to the top five times, and honestly, anytime we get the opportunity, we mess up. We have to go to the drawing board.”
