Assistant coach of the Black Stars team, John Paintsil, has expressed optimism that Ghana possesses the requisite qualities to advance from the group stages of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He described Ghana’s Group L, comprising England, Croatia, and Panama, as a challenging one.
In an interview with journalists, the retired professional footballer noted that the team possesses the necessary qualities to qualify from the group stages.
“It’s a tricky group, one Ghanaians cannot underrate. Forget about the names — I believe it’s a group that will bring the best out of the team,” he said.
“Our performances in the qualifiers were fantastic. We have a squad of highly skilled players who can rise to any challenge.”
2026 would mark the country’s fifth appearance.
The country’s best performance was in 2010 in South Africa, where they reached the Quarter-finals, becoming only the third African team to achieve this feat.
They were eliminated by Uruguay in a penalty shootout.
