Ghana signs seventh bilateral debt restructuring deal agreement with the Czech Republic

Ghana has signed its seventh bilateral debt restructuring agreement with the Czech Republic.

Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson signed on behalf of Ghana, while Mr. René Jakl, Director of the Claims and Recoveries Department at the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP), represented the Czech Republic.

The agreement was signed on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. Dr. Forson expressed his gratitude to the Czech Republic for their continued cooperation in a Facebook post.

Mr. Jakl described the agreement as a new chapter that will pave the way for future support, noting that the signing ceremony was attended by Czech Ambassador Mr. Pavel Bílek and officials from the Ministry of Finance.

Earlier today, I signed Ghana’s seventh bilateral debt restructuring agreement with the Czech Republic, represented by Mr. René Jakl, Director of the Claims and Recoveries Department at the Export Guarantee and Insurance Corporation (EGAP).

On behalf of the Government and people of Ghana, I conveyed our deep appreciation for their continued cooperation.

Mr. Jakl described the agreement as a new chapter that will open doors for future support.

The ceremony was witnessed by Czech Ambassador Mr. Pavel Bílek and officials from the Ministry of Finance.
