Her Excellency made the call during a visit to Ghanaian businesses in Birmingham, where she interacted with entrepreneurs, listened to their challenges, and encouraged stronger partnerships between the diaspora and institutions in Ghana. The business engagement was followed by a colourful community celebration — the Taptap Send Customers Christmas Dinner & Dance, organised by Taptap Send on last Saturday at the Al Miraj Banqueting Suites, Birmingham. The event brought together community leaders, business owners, professionals, and families to celebrate culture, partnership, and the spirit of giving during the festive season.

The President of the Ghana Union, Greater Birmingham, Mr Paul Adoba, also addressed the gathering, welcoming members and supporters while stressing the importance of unity, collaboration, and cultural celebration within the Ghanaian community.

The evening opened with a prayer by Rev. Dr Charles Addai-Mensah, Head Pastor of Sureway Assemblies of God, Birmingham. A warm welcome address was delivered by Mawutor Abraham, Growth Director for Taptap Send Africa, who spoke on the theme “Looking Back, Looking Forward: Growth, Community, and the Taptap Send Promise.” He highlighted Taptap Send’s commitment to affordable, reliable remittances and its growing role in supporting African diaspora communities.

A special anthem segment featured the national anthems of England, Nigeria, and Ghana, reflecting the diversity and shared heritage of the audience.

In her keynote address as Special Guest of Honour, Her Excellency Mrs Sabah Zita Benson reflected on the strength of diaspora–government partnerships, the importance of community empowerment, and the opportunities that lie ahead in the coming year. She commended organisations like Taptap Send for bridging financial gaps and supporting families and businesses across borders.

The event also featured an exciting raffle draw, with prizes donated by community-supportive businesses including Green Ghana, First Class Shipping, Afro Ganza, Golden Park Events, and Wealth Max Financial Services, offering items such as rice and fufu packages, shipping discounts, Amazon vouchers, and financial services support.

Adding a cultural dimension to the evening, the first runner-up of Miss Ghana UK delivered remarks as a cultural ambassador, highlighting the community’s achievements and introducing key leaders present at the event.

The Dinner & Dance concluded on a high note, blending networking, cultural pride, and celebration. Attendees praised the event for strengthening community bonds and reinforcing the message that the Ghanaian diaspora remains a vital partner in Ghana’s development journey.
