Kwesi Botchway Junior, a private legal practitioner and special aide to former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has lauded Kennedy Agyapong for his unwavering dedication to the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
However, he maintained that the former lawmaker lacks the requisite qualities to lead the Republic of Ghana as President.
Speaking in a recent interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, Botchway Jr. acknowledged Agyapong’s significant contributions and sacrifices for the NPP over the years.
While praising his role as an employer, he argued that Agyapong’s skillset is better suited for the private sector.
“I love Kennedy Agyapong. He is a dedicated and committed member of the NPP who supports both the party and its members,” Botchway Jr. told host Kwabena Agyapong. “However, he lacks the competencies required to be President. He does not have what it takes. He should focus on his businesses, continue to create jobs, and stay away from the presidency.”
The legal practitioner dismissed claims that there is a nationwide clamor for Agyapong to lead the NPP in the 2028 general elections. He characterized such assertions as being fueled by a vocal minority of followers rather than the broader electorate.
He further suggested that Agyapong’s past rhetoric remains a hurdle, noting that Ghanaians still remember his history of insulting various demographics, including market women and religious leaders—voter blocks essential for winning a national election.
Touching on recent prophecies—specifically those from Prophet El Barnard—which project Agyapong as a future winner, Botchway Jr. expressed skepticism.
He claimed that Agyapong himself does not believe in these prophecies and predicted a fallout between the politician and the prophets should the election results prove them wrong.
Kwesi Botchway Jr. reaffirmed his support for former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, describing him as the most “reliable, credible, and competent” candidate.
He expressed firm confidence that Dr. Bawumia remains the party’s best bet to secure victory in the 2028 elections.
