Madam Janet Nabla, Chairperson of the People’s National Party (PNP), has affirmed that all five aspirants contesting the January 31, 2026 New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary are competent, capable, and credible enough to lead their party into the 2028 elections.
When asked who she believes possesses the necessary qualities to lead the party and potentially the nation, Madam Nabla opined that every candidate brings a wealth of experience from their respective fields.
Speaking in an interview on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, she noted that the aspirants have distinguished themselves through service in both political and private life. However, she was quick to add a caveat: while she respects their competence, she believes the PNP is poised to defeat whoever emerges victorious.
Regarding the caliber of the contestants, she stated “All the five aspirants are competent to lead the NPP. They have served in different capacities in both private and public life. They are very competent, and anyone who is elected would be capable of leading the NPP, serving as President, and performing exceptionally well. But no matter who they elect, the PNP will defeat them hands down during the 2028 elections. I wish to stress that anyone they choose is very competent, reliable, honest, and experienced, and can do the work.”
In a solidarity message ahead of the polls, the female politician urged the NPP to maintain high democratic standards, ensuring the process remains transparent.
“We wish to admonish the NPP to ensure that the election is free, fair, transparent, and credible so that the aspirants will accept the outcome. We would also commend the NPP for how clean the process has been so far, and I think that is what democracy is about.”
