The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has appointed Mahdi Gibril as its Acting Director of Elections and Information Technology, a position he will hold until a substantive replacement is found for the late Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, who passed away in a helicopter crash on August 4, 2025.
The appointment of Mr. Gibril takes immediate effect, following deliberations and consensus at a Functional Executive Committee (FEC) meeting on January 13, 2026.
He was formally appointed through a letter signed by General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey.
The party selected Mr. Gibril based on his experience, competence, and commitment to the NDC’s objectives, expressing confidence that he will strengthen the party’s electoral operations ahead of internal contests and national elections.
As Acting Director, he will oversee election-related activities, including electoral strategy, data systems, IT operations, and overall management of the party’s election infrastructure.
He will work closely with the General Secretary, FEC, National Executive Committee, and other relevant directorates to ensure the party’s electoral duties are carried out effectively in accordance with the NDC Constitution and regulations.
