It’s Transportation, Not Bribery” – Aide confirms cash payments to delegates in Acheampong Campaign

Mr. Yaw Yeboah, Senior Campaign Aide to Dr. Bryan Acheampong, has refuted claims that the presidential aspirant bribed New Patriotic Party (NPP) delegates to secure their votes.

While addressing the allegations, Yeboah admitted that funds were distributed to delegates, but characterized the payments strictly as “transportation allowances.” He maintained that these disbursements do not constitute vote-buying, despite public speculation.

Speaking on International Election Watch during the NPP presidential primary coverage, Yeboah addressed reports of disgruntled delegates:”We have gathered news of some incidents where delegates expressed disappointment. This was because certain individuals we trusted to hand over transportation money to the delegates failed to do so. This cannot be termed a bribe or vote-buying. We provided the money specifically for travel costs.”

Mr Yeboah emphasized that the delegates are “intelligent, smart, and discerning individuals” who do not require financial influence to support Dr. Acheampong.

He expressed strong optimism that the former Minister of Food and Agriculture will emerge victorious as the NPP’s Presidential Candidate for the 2028 general elections.

According to Yeboah, the aspirant’s confidence stems from an extensive campaign tour across all 276 constituencies, where he received firm assurances of support from the party’s grassroots.
