NPP holds presidential primary today

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding its presidential primary to elect its candidate for the 2028 presidential election.

The party has expanded its delegate base for this 2026 presidential primary to include more grassroots and external branch members.

This includes national, regional, and constituency executives, as well as TESCON presidents, external branch executives, and various categories of patrons and elders.

Over 211,849 delegates are expected to vote in the primary with no proxy votes.

The party has handed over the conduct of the election to the Electoral Commission, with voting expected to be held in 277 centres in the 276 constituencies nationwide, including the National Headquarters as a special voting centre.

There are 5 candidates on the ballot for today’s primary. The official ballot order is:

* Kennedy Ohene Agyapong (former MP for Assin Central)

* Dr Bryan Acheampong (former Minister for Food and Agriculture / MP for Abetifi)

* Dr Mahamudu Bawumia (Former Vice President)

* Dr Yaw Osei Adutwum (Former Minister for Education / MP for Bosomtwe)

* Kwabena Agyei Agyepong (Former General Secretary, NPP)
