Bryan Acheampong is now a rising force in the NPP following a strong 2026 primary performance – Eric Tetteh

Eric Tetteh, former Metropolitan Chief Executive for Yilo Krobo and a key member of the Dr. Bryan Acheampong campaign team, has expressed his gratitude to God, delegates, and party stakeholders following the successful presidential primary held on January 31, 2026.

Reflecting on the results, Mr. Tetteh noted that entering the contest as an underdog and securing such a significant number of votes was an impressive feat. He indicated that the outcome proves Dr. Acheampong is a rising force who is well-positioned to make even greater gains in future elections.

Mr. Tetteh emphasised that in every contest, there are only two possible outcomes: victory or defeat. He noted that since the delegates have chosen Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Dr. Acheampong has gracefully accepted the results, congratulated the winner, and pledged his total support.

Speaking on behalf of the campaign, Mr. Tetteh shared the following:

”On behalf of Dr. Bryan Acheampong, I wish to thank the members of the party, particularly our delegates, for a peaceful and successful primary. In every contest, there are two outcomes: you either win or lose. Our prayer throughout the campaign was that if it was the will of God, He should grant us victory. However, the results are out; we have accepted defeat and pledged our full support to Dr. Bawumia.

This was Dr. Bryan’s first time contesting a presidential election. In terms of national popularity, many party members did not know him well initially. However, he has proven that he can gain recognition quickly, polling significant numbers as a first-timer. With age on his side, he will surely grow within the party. I am most excited that he has pledged his support to Bawumia, and as his supporters, we have committed to doing the same. We accept the results and are ready to work for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.”

When asked if Dr. Acheampong was open to the running mate position, Mr. Tetteh remarked that it was too early to discuss such details. He clarified, however, that the lawmaker remains prepared to serve the party in any capacity necessary to secure victory for the NPP.

Mr. Tetteh stated that the NPP is poised for a comeback in 2028.

”The NPP is the only party that truly develops the country and manages the economy effectively. Things did not go our way in the 2024 elections, but we have learned our lessons. We will come back stronger and do better.”
