According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Upper West Regional Police Command, the men attempted to flee upon sighting the police vehicle. Following a brief pursuit, officers successfully detained three of the suspects.

A search at the scene resulted in the retrieval of three single-barrel guns, three cutlasses, and 23 BB cartridges. During interrogation, the suspects reportedly admitted to possessing the weapons without the requisite legal licenses.

The suspects appeared before the Wa Magistrate Court, presided over by His Worship Simon Kofi Bediako, where they were remanded into custody.

They are scheduled to reappear in court on February 18, 2026.

DCOP Francis Yiribaare, the Regional Police Commander, commended the patrol team for their vigilance and professionalism.

The police stated that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining two suspects who escaped during the encounter.
