The Member of Parliament for the Bantama Constituency, Hon. Francis Asenso Boakye, has led a delegation of Ashanti caucus members to urge the government to prioritise the construction and upgrading of a major highway in Ashanti.
Addressing the media in Parliament, Hon. Asenso Boakye emphasised the importance of the project, stating that the Ashanti Region is the second-largest business hub in the country, resulting in heavy traffic flows along its roadways due to inadequate infrastructure.
“The existing road network struggles to accommodate growing vehicular demands,” he said. “This highway project is a vital component of the Big PUSH bill, crucial for regional development and mobility.”
The Ashanti caucus is also pushing for the four-tier infrastructural system to be maintained, warning that condensing it into a two-tier system would undermine the project’s effectiveness and benefits.
“We strongly urge the government to incorporate this project into their plans and initiatives,” Hon. Asenso Boakye said.
