Minister for Government Communications Felix Kwakye Ofosu says the emergency cabinet session on the cocoa sector has ended.
According to him, Minister for Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson will hold a media briefing tomorrow, Thursday 12, 2026 to announce decisive measures taken to expedite payment to farmers.

President John Dramani Mahama held an emergency Cabinet meeting today, Wednesday, February 11th, 2026, following the ongoing challenges confronting the cocoa sector.
Cocoa farmers have complained that they have not been paid for cocoa purchased since November 2025.
They have consistently called on the government to intervene and pay them so they can also attend to their financial needs, including paying the fees of their wards.
Addressing journalists after the meeting, he said decisive measures have been taken, including drastic reforms to achieve quantum leaps in domestic processing as opposed to the export of raw materials.
Additionally, the Minister said there would be various reforms carried out at COCOBOD in order to ensure more effective administration and management of the cocoa sector
“We have just concluded a lengthy cabinet meeting, which was an emergency session that discussed the cocoa sector and matters arising there. And at the end of the emergency session, decisive measures have been agreed upon regarding expedited payments of cocoa farmers, regarding the implementation of the most drastic reforms in the cocoa sector,” the Minister stated.
