Côte d’Ivoire has maintained the farmgate price for cocoa at the equivalent of GHC3,600 per 64 kg bag for the upcoming 2025/26 main crop season.
This decision aims to provide price stability for producers as the country prepares for the next harvest cycle.
The Coffee-Cocoa Council has issued a firm reminder to all industry stakeholders regarding payment regulations. Licensed buyers are legally required to complete full payment for all cocoa deliveries within a strict one-month deadline.
Authorities have warned that any breach of this timeframe or any attempt to bypass the minimum guaranteed price will result in severe sanctions under national law. These measures are designed to maintain sector discipline and ensure that offenders face the full extent of legal consequences.
To further enhance transparency and accountability throughout the value chain, the Council is calling on farmers to be vigilant.
Producers are encouraged to report any instances of non-compliance, such as underpayment or delayed transactions, directly to the Council’s regional offices. By empowering farmers to speak up, the government seeks to eliminate unfair trade practices and ensure that the cocoa industry continues to function effectively.
The Council reaffirmed its core commitment to safeguarding farmer incomes and promoting the sustainability of the sector.
