Presidential candidate for the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has admonished party members to embrace discipline and deliberate effort if they hope to win the 2028 general elections, stressing that victory will not be handed to the party.
Speaking at the National Thanksgiving Service at UPSA Ghana on Sunday, February 15, 2026, the former vice president indicated that internal healing and unity remain crucial for mounting a strong electoral comeback.
“What is left of the healing and uniting is acknowledging where each went too far, telling ourselves the truth and still choosing to walk together,” he said, noting that genuine reconciliation requires openness rather than silence.
“Healing will not come from silence; it will come from speaking up on what binds us together and working towards it. As a family, we have more that binds us together than what we differ on,” Dr Bawumia added.
According to him, the journey ahead will require discipline, hard work and sacrifice.
He said the victory they seek will not be given to them on a silver platter, but they would have to work to do it.
“The road ahead will demand discipline, sacrifice, and hard work. Victory in 2028 will not be gifted to us. It must be earned constituency by constituency and household by household with humility and purpose.”
