King Charles III Breaks Silence on Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s Arrest; Urges ‘Full, Fair’ Investigation

King Charles III released a formal statement Thursday expressing “the deepest concern” following the arrest of his brother, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

Issued by Royal Communications just hours after the news broke, the message marks the first time a reigning monarch has publicly addressed the criminal investigation of a sibling in such direct terms.

The King’s statement referred to his brother by his legal name, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor—the designation used since he was stripped of his “His Royal Highness” status.

“I have learned with the deepest concern the news about Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor and suspicion of misconduct in public office,” the King stated. “What now follows is the full, fair and proper process by which this issue is investigated in the appropriate manner and by the appropriate authorities.”

He indicated that the law must take its full course without any interference.

“Let me state clearly: the law must take its course.”

The arrest occurred Thursday morning—coinciding with Andrew’s 66th birthday—when authorities from the Thames Valley Police took a man in his 60s into custody in Norfolk.

The investigation is reportedly linked to the recent release of the “Epstein Files”.

Allegations suggest that during his tenure as a UK trade envoy between 2001 and 2011, Mountbatten-Windsor may have shared confidential government reports with the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.
